Do you think a person in INDIA can face problems under FERA if he does online betting using credit card?

Chetan said...

It's a catch 22 situation! I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you start betting large amounts (crores/lakhs)!!! Again, I don't think you will face any problems under FERA.. They got better things to do than try to catch individual gaming fans.

Hello Deepak- Hope you are in best of health.

There is no particular rule/policy that specifically prohibits online gambling in India. I am sure you already know-Except the state of Goa, Offline gambling is considered illegal/prohibited in India. Although Online gambling is in a catch 22 situation! The laws don't mention or clearly say anything about online gambling as compared to offline.

To answer your 2nd question- You can use neteller.com to transfer your money and then use neteller to play poker on virtually all poker sites on the net.

Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Your feedback really helped.Thank you so much for the swift response.

But what about withdrawals you might need to make from poker sites, cause i know they ask for detailed documentation and how does one go about providing the same without circumventing any laws that there might be?

Also it would be really nice if i could get your contact details, we play a regular game at a club, so could rope you in as well if interested. Also, i might have some more questions and it would be really kind if you could help me out over the phone.

Hi Deepak,

Thanks for the poker invitation. Unfortunately I am not in India. You can withdraw your winnings to neteller. From neteller you can then deposit the amount to wherever you like. As far as the documentation, you will just have to ask your local tax consultant or accountant.

Take care,

Hello,

I have been playing poker on nopaypoker since March this year. It is a great site which pays out quickly after requesting cashout. Payments are made via PayPal.

As regards Wass Online Poker, do they permit Indians to play their freerolls?

Thanks and regards,

Flo

Yo Flo,

Yeah, they (Wass Poker) allow indians to enter freeroll tournaments and cash out.

However a better option is to join India's own poker site- Check out IndiaRiver freeroll tournaments

Thanks a lot Mottobiz. This is great. Now I can play and win on our own Indian site.

Hi there,

Check back on this site by next week. I will let you know when the tournament will go live again. You can practice at Wass Poker for the time being.

Anonymous said...

Thanks mottobiz for the info.

On Wass Poker, when I checked yesterday there were 750 players signed up for the freeroll. That would take many hours to finish. How many hours does it take on an average for a freeroll at Wass Poker to complete ?

Unknown said...

The average time is anyone's guess! It can be a few hours or more. If you have played at a real poker table, it makes sense to stick around the table for a long time to have any chance of making considerable amount of cash. Same is the case with online poker tourneys. Just try to play during off peak hours. This will help you draw more games in a short period of time. I hope this helps. Let me know how it goes!

Once again- Best of my wishes...

Hi Mottobiz,

Thanks for your reply.

Is there any poker site that accepts PayPal deposits and pays via PayPal? I have noticed most of the poker sites do not have PayPal as their deposit/payout option. If there were such sites, it would greatly help as I have funds in my PayPal account.

People with paypal accounts in India are under the radar gun! I suggest you stay away from using paypal at all. Check out neteller(dot)com & see if you can deposit funds.
